More Than Just a Blonde |
The many adventures that make my life. |
Growing up I always had a 5 year and 10 year plan. I had goals and always intended to reach them. Then college came and I lost my direction. I knew where I wanted to go, just not the right road to take. It was about 2 years ago I decided to do something about this stress. I threw out my plans. Life wasn’t made to be planned out as much as I love to make intineraries, I realized this wasn’t the way to get to my end goal.
Then the movie, The Bucket List, came out and it made me realize that I not necessarialy needed to set 5 or 10 year deadlines, but instead I just needed to start doing things. So I wrote a list. That list stayed in its notebook for the next year. A few times I redid the list and added things to it or made spin off lists; where I want to visit, what kind of marathons I want to run, dream companies. None of the things on my bucket list have to do with getting married or having children. I have never been one to rely on a boy for anything. I think that is why I talk to much and work insane amount of hours. If I can make the excuse of not having anytime, then I can’t fail at relationships anymore.
Back to “The List”, which almost sometimes looks like a bunch of New Years Resolutions. It just sat in my notebook and every month or so I would stumble across it and be like hey I should do something on it. Which leads to me just googling information about it and saying I will start tomorrow. It wasn’t until my good friend Andy moved to South America and wrote this blog entry: http://lavidaidealist.org/2010/07/07/location-location-location/ that I really decided to take action.
His whole idea is to do one new thing a day and then he writes in on a notecard and puts it on his wall. I really liked that idea and have been trying to do that as well, but in Iowa. Most of my things relate to work because that is all I do. But I will for fun soon.
Here’s my bucket list thus far of things I want to accomplish in my life and hopefully you will hold me accountable :)
So there it is, in a nutshell. Hopefully I get these things done. Maybe I will also start a goal board and a new thing board.
